From the Director
“Mary’s Place was a ray of hope for me and the boys after
Dan died,” a past participant said to me with tears in her
eyes. Hope. I’ve always known we were a safe place. A
haven where everyone, children and adults, were encouraged
to share their grief and their stories. A place to cry, but also,
a place to laugh. A place where no feeling is right or wrong,
it just is. There is no time table here. Grief doesn’t end
after a year nor does it take a vacation over the summer.
Here is where children and families come to be with others.
Some further along in their journey and some whose grief
is so very raw. There is a giving and taking here. A respect
for commonality but also for the uniqueness of each
individual’s grief. A place where people listen, but most
importantly, where they are understood. In this house that
welcomes sorrow, there is a ray of hope.
During these times of economic concerns, I thank you, our
readers and supporters, more than ever for your continued
support. Non profit organizations everywhere are feeling
the effects. Please know that whether it be postage stamps, a
book from our wish list or a monetary donation, it is your
support that allows us to continue to serve so many families
year round, free of charge. It is because of you that Mary’s
Place continues to be a ray of hope.
Warmly,
Lisa Peluso
